for this project each group were given five secret INGREDIENTS. we had to make a dish with the five ingredients using chemistry of cooking. the day of festival del sol, is when chefs from RESTAURANTS will judge our dish.
my group got AVOCADOS, cheddar cheese, corn, SIRLOIN steak, and coke. as a group we were brain storming ideas on what dish we should use with the five INGREDIENTS. we were planning on making a taco, but we thought it would be too simple. so we thought out of the box and prepared a sirloin steak that was marinated with coca cola , topped with lightly salted grilled onions. on the side we have light guacamole and a CHEESY corn casserole.
during this project, i learned the FERMENTATION of cheese, science of marinating, millard reaction and browning of meat.
for the EXHIBITION everyone in the group brought in the INGREDIENTS and we made our dish. during our presentation to the judge we introduce our dish to them and explained the science between the cooking.
This is our Modernist Cuisine poster where we explain the scicence contained in our cooking.
this video shows the steps we took to make our recipe.
the new things that i learned in this project is the science behind our ingredients, grilling sirlon steak and making guacamole I am proud of how i was responsible to bring in the ingredients we needed because i was the person that had to bring the important stuff in. the thing i would do differently is nothing.
